PLEASE NOTE: Cascades Summer Camp will not be operating during Summer of 2023.

Due to the high demand of using all our resources for staffing various resort needs, we will not be operating Cascades Summer Camp. Please note this is more than likely a pause while we revisit operations for the future Cascades Summer Camp.  The Cascades Summer Camp future dream will include a truer summer camp experience, where we are in tents on platforms up by Sunnyside Lodge and we operate independently including Food & Beverage. We appreciate all the support we received while we were operating in Town Square and would to thank everyone for their support for the 2 years we were in operation.

ABOUT CASCADES SUMMER CAMP

Campers don’t just enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, they also enjoy the beauty of new friendships.

For kids growing up in the digital age, it can be hard to cultivate and foster a passion for the outdoors. At Cascades Summer Camp, that passion comes easily. Campers quickly develop a strong appetite for exploration, and by the time camp ends, they have a lifelong fondness for the Great Outdoors.

Campers form a close-knit community that is small enough to kindle deep, sometimes lifelong, friendships. They explore together, learn together grow together, and challenge each other. Throughout camp, campers learn that they are necessary part of the worthwhile whole.

Every day there's a new place to explore and a new activity to try. Whether it's mountain-top overnight camping trips or fishing excursions, days at the waterpark or high ropes course adventures - campers spend their days having fun in the sun and making new friends (isn't that what summer is all about?).

At Cascades, campers get the best of both worlds. They spend the all of their time outside - exploring the vast wilderness, discovering new adventures, and taking on new challenges. At night, campers sleep in the safety and comfort of Town Square Condos, supervised by overnight counselors. Plus, campers can enjoy healthy and nutritious meals every day, as all camp meals are catered by Waterville Valley Resort Conference Center.

Why do you love Cascades?

"I love Cascades because it gives kids the chance to develop a real passion for the great outdoors. In the absence of screens and technology, kids' come to life - they become more imaginative, more confident, more independent...They develop an appreciation for outdoor recreation and outdoor activities, all the while simply having fun and just being kids. The best moments are when kids marvel at the potential adventures ahead of them, and you can see them ponder all the different possibilities for exploration. It's priceless."

CHRIS GILMORE
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Chris Gilmore is the Assistant Director of Cascades Summer Camp. During the winter, Chris works as Assistant Director of Snowsports, where he trains and develops staff, coordinates lessons, and helps instructors to deliver engaging, safe, and successful snowsport lessons. Chris has over a decade of experience in teaching children snowboarding - helping hundreds of kids grow their on-snow confidence, develop their skills, and foster their passion for the sport. At Cascades Summer Camp, Chris helps train staff and coordinate programming, while also sharing his passions for mountain biking and outdoor recreation with Cascade campers.

Why do you love Cascades?

"I think the coolest thing about Cascades Summer Camp is where we are located. There aren’t too many places in this crazy world that have 'the town at the end of the road' feel to them. The coolest part about Waterville Valley is that we are engulfed by mountains. It's crazy - we spend an entire week with a group of campers, busy with activities the entire time, yet we only manage to explore a small fraction of Waterville Valley and its neighboring mountains. The town at the end of the road has quickly become my place of work, my playground, and my home. I’m hoping that the kids that come to camp get to find something similar and take that home with them. It is an incredible feeling to be able to share my passion for the outdoors, and more specifically the mountains, with the new generation of kids in New England."

AMANDA PIERSON
PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

Amanda is the Program Supervisor at Cascades Summer Camp. Prior to joining the Waterville Family, Amanda worked as Assistant Director of Camp Programs for Girl Scouts of Utah, where she developed camp-wide educational programs, and was responsible for creating camp schedules, training staff, and coordinating transportation for campers, staff, and activities. Amanda also worked as a camp counselor and trip coordinator for many summer camps across New Hampshire: Lincoln Woodstock Adventure Camp, Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run, and Town of Barrington Recreation Department Summer Camp. During the winter, Amanda leads the Kids Kamp Program at Waterville Valley Resort, where she manages and trains staff for safe and successful on-snow learning.

Why do you love Cascades?

“I've been a camper myself, and I've worked at many different types of summer camps. The lessons I've learned and the memories I've made still stick with me to this day, and for that, I am truly thankful. The memories and lessons made at Cascades Camp are unique. The memories made over the summer can carry over into the winter. Campers come to Waterville in the summer and fall in love with the outdoors. Then, they come back in the winter (with the help of their free season pass) and fall in love with a brand new sport. I just love seeing Cascade Campers out on the slopes, smiling from ear to ear as they race down Valley Run. At camp, we can share in our passion for year-round outdoor recreation, which is a very special experience."
