Town News
At Tuesday’s community forum, Mark Decoteau reported on the Select Board’s Wednesday, June 4, meeting schedule which included a presentation by the White Mountain National Forest staff to the Select Board on the Notice of Intent for the Gondola Project, as well as a public Hearing on the use of $99,000 in unanticipated revenue for two purposes:
$50,000 for engineering and legal fees to continue the closure of the former landfill on the Britton property.
$49,000 to be added to the water and sewer emergency repair accounts. The town had to use most of the funds in those two accounts this past winter due to a water service freeze up on Beanbender Road and a sewer line freeze up on the low-pressure line on River Road & West Branch Road.
Mark also reviewed road and other paving projects, including:
Path between Golden Eagle Lodge and the Corcoran Pond Dam. Paving is complete and the Department of Public Works crew will be working on the edges of the path.
Jennings Peak Road. Starting Monday, June 9, the contractor will begin tree clearance, excavation and road repairs. All work, including a base coat of pavement, should be completed by the end of the month.
Packard Road repaving will be done in conjunction with the repairs and repaving of the Golden Eagle Lodge parking lots. The work is expected to begin the week of July 9th.
Noon Peak paving will begin when the paving on Packard Road is completed.
The Theatre Under the Stars performances will be held on Packard Field this summer. Set-up begins this Saturday. There will be a tent, stage area and walls set up around the performance area from June 7 through the middle of August.
The Planning Board meeting on Thursday, June 12, at 8 a.m., will include a Site Plan Application presentation by Tyrell Development Company for an Adventure Zone located between the Ice Arena and Valley Road. The meeting will be held in the lower-level meeting room at Town Hall.
