Conditions for Friday 3/10/23

Though it’s nice to get a dose of vitamin D Don’t forget to wax your skis If the snow is hot it will be sticky So spread that F4 paste quite quickly!

With these temperatures swings above and below freezing each day, it’s a good time to review how you can make the most out of your spring skiing day. Trails that are left ungroomed or are groomed before they fully re-freeze may remain firm for the first few hours of the following day. Plan to start your ski day a little later or begin with the trails that were groomed most recently to make sure you get that dreamy soft snow. By mid-afternoon many of the sunny trails will start to get sticky until we’ve had enough freeze thaw cycles to transform the snow crystal into that magical, tasty goodness we call corn snow. It’s a great time of year to get a fresh hot wax on your skis to help manage the snow conditions.

We’re going to have a late start to grooming Thursday evening to let things cool off before we head out on the North End. One or two trails may be skipped if we run low on time. On Friday morning we’ll head to the South End. Coverage is still really good on 99% of the system, but the hot sun is starting to activate some water in a few places. Rough Rider has two narrow & thin spots where you should plan to slow down and navigate carefully.

Have fun out there!

Ian
