Sunday Funday

Conditions for 3/5/23

Holy cow, that was a storm. We picked up around a foot of new snow through the day on Saturday. Thankfully we groomed pretty much all day so we should be able to neaten up the trail system quite nicely for Sunday. A few new trails will open with the new snow including Dry Joes and Drakes Brook. They will be a bit soft so lend themselves more to classic skiing than skate for the time being.

Upper Criterion is partially open, you can enter it from Criterion Access and ski across the first shortcut to the bottom of Rough Rider and down the descent back to Pond Loop. I’m recommending everyone ski Rough Rider as a downhill from Upper Snows until we’re able to widen it a bit more and better accommodate two-way traffic. Be wary of soft pockets of snow on Rough Rider and Upper Criterion.

With all the fresh snow there’s a good chance it could get sticky if we get above freezing and the sun comes out. So don’t forget your glide wax!

We’re extremely excited to welcome back the Winter Games for the Special Olympics. They will be utilizing our Teaching Area for most of their competitions so there won’t be much of an impact on the trail system.

That was a long one, but it’s all good news.

Enjoy your ski day!

Ian
