Meet Our Partner: MND Group

Next season, skiers and riders will be able to ascend Mount Tecumseh’s Summit with a new, first-of-its-kind, 6-pack bubble chairlift. This new lift will replace our current White Peaks Express Quad, which has been in operation since it was originally built in 1988. (Fun fact: the White Peaks Express Quad was the first detachable high-speed quad in New Hampshire!)

Waterville Valley Resort has chosen to partner with MND Group for the construction and installation of the new lift. Waterville Valley Resort first partnered with MND Group back in 2017, for the installation of over 400 energy-efficient fan guns, as well as the construction & installation of our High Country T-Bar and two magic carpets: Lower Pasture Carpet and Upper Pasture Carpet.

“This lift represents the best technology in the market today and we are pleased to extend our partnership with MND,” expressed Tim Smith, President and General Manager of Waterville Valley Resort. “Replacing our White Peaks lift is the most important project in our investment plan for the existing resort footprint, and we will continue our work to enhance the guest experience at Waterville Valley Resort.”

Not only are we constructing and installing a new lift, but we are also tearing down the old White Peaks Quad. This is no simple feat. Given the massive scope and complexity of this project, we decided to divide construction into two primary seasons: one construction season occurring prior to the start of 21/22 Season, and the other construction season occurring after the 21/22 Season concludes.

Although this chairlift is the first of its kind in the United States, this isn’t MND’s first rodeo. MND Group first entered the Snowsports Industry in 1963, when they launched their first fan gun under the company name Linde. Since then, MND Group has expanded its scope and breadth beyond snowmaking systems to include ropeways/chairlifts, mountain safety, and leisure infrastructure. Under a subsidiary company named MND SNOW, they designed and installed the snowmaking systems used for the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. In 2014, MND Group worked with the Winter Olympics once again, installing avalanche release units, chairlifts, and safety protections for the Olympic competition runs of Sochi, Russia. Today, MND Group has completed over 2,000 projects in 67 different countries.

The Sochi Rosa Khutor is a 4-person chairlift, and was constructed & installed for the use of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

The 129 GazexX®/Gazflex® shelters were positioned in the most exposed avalanche corridors at the Sochi Olympic venue .Stationary solutions guarantee the safety of operating personnel thanks to remote control, available 24 hours a day and in all weathers.

Built to withstand extreme weather conditions, the 129 fixed Gazex®/Gazflex is an avalanche release unit which specializes in triggering avalanches without explosives. MND Group constructed and installed these avalanche risk management
