Sunday

Conditions for Sunday 2/26/23

Things are going to warm up nicely on Sunday for another great day of skiing. The North End will once again be fully open and groomed overnight. On the South End we’ll refresh the trails as well with some of the outer trails like Lower Fletchers and Sloppy Joes just getting a snowmobile groom.

The big news of the day is the partial opening of our newest trail, just completed this summer, called Rough Rider. It’s open as an out and back from Upper Snows at Jnct 74. While it is marked as a black diamond trail, the section we are opening is a little closer to blue square level. The remaining portion, which we hope to open next week, is where the trail becomes a steeper descent. It offers great views through a gorgeous hardwood section of forest. It will be a touch soft having just opened, but I hope you get out and check it out!

Lastly another plug for a local skier, Dr. Suzanne Young, who is researching hydration practices of XC skiers in New England. She is a Professor at New England College and her research area is hydration in endurance athletes, specifically marathon runners. There has been little research done in XC skiers to date, but by completing her survey you can help change that. Thanks for your help!

Enjoy!
