Saturday

Conditions for Saturday 3/25/23

Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20’s overnight which will allow us to spend quite a few hours grooming on the North End. We’re going to say goodbye to Lower Snows, Swazeytown, and Beanbender for now. It’s also likely that we groom Cascade Brook as an out and back from Junction 28 to 29. The trails are still in remarkably good shape given the rollercoaster of temperatures and precipitation. There are some patches of ice that we should be able to grind up, but mostly we have lovely corn snow which will groom out nicely. This is the time of the year when we start to see all the debris rise to the surface of the snowpack, making the snow look a little dirty. But there are very few actual dirt spots out there, it’s almost all sticks and bark that have been ground up. Classic tracks may be a bit firm so it’s likely a better skate day, or try classic skiing in the skate lane for better grip.

The South End is closed to skiing at the moment, but snowshoeing and fat biking are welcome, though studded tires may be beneficial in some places.

Enjoy your day,

Ian
